OUR HISTORY

Baron Insulation has been servicing the insulation needs of commercial and industrial building projects since 1973.

  • 1970

The foundation of Baron Insulation was on July 9th, when the name “Baron Fibreglass” was registered (at a cost of five dollars) by Roderick James Eakins.

  • 1973

In August, Baron Fibreglass became a full time operation with two areas of work. The production of custom moulded industrial FRP parts ran alongside manufacture of ducting using the Fibreglass Duct System, Duct Board, Hush Duct or Fibreduct as it has variously been named. The Ducting business continued to grow with product sent as far a field at the living quarters in the Antarctic.

  • 1988

We introduced internal black neoprene spray within this unique ductwork system – the spray is still employed today on all Baron Duct products.

  • 1989

Saw the start of an insulation cutting service, mainly supplying the appliance market, for such lines as dishwashers, water heaters, furnaces, air-conditioners, boilers plus other industries like trains.

  • 1990

The growth years. To remain competitive, equipment was developed to bond the various facings needed on insulation for this work. The process however gave such good quality and capacity that soon product was made for the sheet metal ductwork manufacturers. This expanded at such a rate that it has become the major activity of Baron. High stock levels of all commonly used internal linings and external laggings allowed a quick delivery service. Equipment flexibility, backed up with stocks of all insulations, catered for quick supply of special orders. Accessories were stocked at such levels that customers could confidently place one order for all insulating needs.

  • 1996

As other insulation types besides fibreglass came into general use and were incorporated into our range of products. To emphasise this move, the company name was changed to Baron Insulation.

  • 2008

Roderick James Eakins announced his retirement from the business at the now famous Baron Friday 13th Party in June. He sold Baron Insulation to Fletcher Insulation on 1st July who has since run the business as a separate entity, continuing to operate under the traditional name “Baron Insulation”.

  • 2020

In June 2020, we consolidated our four sites, moving to one well-equipped warehouse in Keysborough Victoria. The move helps us better support business growth for our suppliers and customers.
